Wildcats had P.E., Math, Socials, Music, and French today.  In P.E. students were introduced to a new football drill to sharpen defense and offense skills.  Wildcats in Math were introduced to the coordinate system in graphing.  During Socials Wildcats continued investigating the idea of global citizen and human rights.  Universal health care, and the growing gap between rich and poor was discussed.  In French, students were introduced to 'Introduction' phrases and a look at why studying French is important via Etienne.  Homework-->  Math-  Finish your coordinate puzzle (Burglar in Tuba Factory) French--> finish 'Why/Pourquoi take French'. 

Picture day!  Students enjoyed an extended nutrition today to accommodate a school wide BBQ with music.  Awesome.  Wildcats continued with patterns in Math, the Scientific Method in Science, and human rights and the United Nations in Socials.  Homework-->  Math- pg#6&7 in MMS workbook.  Science--> finish the Scientific Method- Control and Variables Part 2 handout.
Assignments with nearing due dates:

Science- Potato lab report- Friday Sept 25, 2015.  Creature Never Seen Before (creative project)  Due Wednesday Sept 30.
Math- Crack the Code (pg#42,43 in MMS text) due Wednesday Sept 30.

Don't procrastinate.  Break the tasks down into smaller jobs to reduce your stress and increase the success.

Wildcats in Advisory today discussed teamwork, and conflict.  Students in div 6-7 today had their first French block.  A review of pronunciation, numbers, and basic greetings was stressed.  In English students had read and responded to "Weird Teenager Trends" and looked at the origins of many common words in the English language.  Wildcats continued in math with patterns and input/output. Homework:  Finish your "Whats Next" w/s on patterns for tomorrow.  Don't forget tomorrow is picture day!  Bring your picture forms.

Wildcats had their academic Wednesday - (no exploratory or PE) today.  During Math Wildcats looked at encryption (codes) and had 2 codes to crack in their team.  Input/output  was also covered. In Science students looked at the diversity of life and how amazing it is.  The loss of wildlife was discussed.  The negatives and positives of wildlife rescue were stressed.  Socials studies was introduced and the class discussed the four themes of social studies:  Culture, Economy, Environment, and Government.  Students started their look at the global citizenship with a look at how peoples rights in other parts of the world are lacking.  Case study of Guiyu and electronics recycling was given to highlight the theme of global village.  Wildcats also had their first English class today.  Students were told that they would be deciding their writing topics this year but that they would need a reference or list of inspirational ideas to refer to.  Wildcats crafted their lists with guiding questions provided and titiled their lists 'Writing Territories'.
Homework:  Wildcats are getting accustomed to the idea of recording in their agendas their homework.  Homework tonight- finish your writing territories lists, and pages 3&4 in your math homework booklet.

Friday:  Wildcats had there first homework and agenda check.  During first block students in div 6-7 had their library orientation.  Block two was devoted to finishing the consequences portion to our classroom social contract.  Block three students finished up their poems and started their first art project:  A self portrait using an enlarged photo from first day pictures.  Wildcats record their homework in their agendas every day, and should be getting their parents to initial them every night.  Homework this weekend:  Get two binders; one for staying in the class and one for taking home(traveler).  Organize your classroom binder with tabs/dividers for the following subjects:  English, Socials, Science, Math, French.  The second binder (the traveler) will be needed for taking school work home. 

A day of firsts.  Wildcats shared past experiences at school and characters they would most like to be able to spend time with during advisory.   Div 6-7 Wildcats completed experienced their first classroom meeting and voted on the classrooms 'seven keys' to success, which formulates the expectation part of the classroom social contract.  Seven items were agreed to suit division seven.  First experiences in the gym and a first fire drill as well.  Homework- finish your 11 line autobiographical poem.

Div 6-7 Wildcats were busy today getting acquainted with classroom routines, expectations, locks,
agenda use, and most importantly getting to know their classmates.  Students crafted star personalities, thought about their goals and contributions for the upcoming school year, and got a great start to our classrooms social contract.  Homework-- get the following forms signed and brought back to class:  info. verification, video consent, aboriginal, photo, classroom letter, and money envelope.  Also remember to bring a gym strip as we have PE tomorrow.
