Math 8- No classes Fridays.  Review percent over the holidays if bored.  First priority is to enjoy your deserved break.

Math 7-. Class cancelled for class holidays party.  Review fractions if bored.  More importantly, enjoy your holiday.

Science 8- No class Fridays.  Preview chapter 4 if bored.  Make having some fun and relaxing a priority over the break.

Math 8- Jags reviewed percent again today and went over  how to understand what the words in percent word problems mean.  Homeworkà Percent W/S  4.5 word problems  1-8. 

Math 7- Jags reviewed multiplication of mixed fractions.  Homework- word problems 13-16 on W/S 1.3 Multiplying mixed fractions.

Science 8- Cancer pamphlet research and construction wrapped up today.  No homework.   Enjoy the holidays. 

Wood 8-  Model houses under construction.  PAC sign project also starting up.

Math 8- Jags reviewed percent again today and went over  how to understand what the words in percent word problems mean.  Homeworkà Percent W/S “Riddle Math” on calculating prices with sales and taxes.

Science 7- Jags finished constructing their straw towers today.  The best tower amazingly held 12 steel cubes for a total weight of just under 5lbs.  Density labs were initiated afterwards.  Homeworkà finish chapter 4 review (pink) page 1.

Wood 8-  Model houses under construction.  PAC sign project also starting up.

Math 8- Jags reviewed percent today and learnt today how to understand what the words in percent word problems mean.  Homeworkà Percent W/S   4.4(green) Questions  5 a to 5 t.

Science 7- Jags continued research and pamphlet construction on a cancer they have been assigned.

Math 7-  Math cancelled due to Belmont Music performance.

Science 8- Cancelled due to Belmont Music performance.

Field Trip:  Classes were cancelled today to accommodate a field trip, to the BC Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, IMAX, and the Empress.

Math 8- Jags continued studying percent and percent problems using proportions and ratios.  Homework- Page 143.  Blue W/S.

Science 8- Jags had a special presentation about depression and suicide awareness.

Math 7-  Jags continued studying multiplication of fractions.  Homework—Finish green w/s on multiplication of fractions.  Page  18.

Wood 7-  Machine tool safety is nearing completion.  Jags are starting bird house construction.

Math 8- Jags went over a quiz on rates and ratios.  They then continued with percent which they were introduced to yesterday.

Science 7- Jags reviewed density and had mystery substances to identify via their densities.  Homeworkà review how to calculate density.

Wood 8-  Machine tool safety is nearing completion, and model house construction has begun.

Math 7- Jags reviewed multiplication and simplification of fractions. Homeworkà  finish green W/S on multiplying fractions.  Page 17 & up to Question 10 on page 18.

Math 8- Jags wrote a quiz on rates and ratios.  They were then introduced to percent.

Science 7- Students were assigned different cancers to research during weekly computer lab allotted time.  Creating an attractive and informative pamphlet is the summative task.

Science 8.  Biology unit test day.  Student done early started reading up on next unit- Fluids.  Homework- finish questions 1-6 on fluids (W/S)  in section 4.1.

Math 7- Jags reviewed addition and simplification of fractions and were introduced to multiplication of fractions.  Homeworkà  finish Cowboy W/S on multiplication of fractions.

Math 8- Jags reviewed unit rates and ratios.  Homework- finish practice quiz on ratios and rates in preparation for real quiz tomorrow.

Science 7- Jags tested their bridges made on Friday.  Students then shifted back into their unit on matter and discussed density.  Homeworkà Finish Golden yellow W/S 4.5 on density.

Science 8-  Jags reviewed unit 1 today via a practice test.  Test was reviewed.  Student write Biology unit test tomorrow.  Know your body systems & cells.  A hand written reference sheet is permitted during test.

Math 7- Jags reviewed strategies for adding fractions.  Equivalent fractions and proportions was wrapped up.  Next and last topics are multiplying and dividing fraction.  Homework—Jump Math Booklet should be finished up to end of page 90 Green Booklet.  Jags ended class with a math applications challenge to end the week.  Build the strongest bridge to span 40cm with 1 meter of tape and 50 drinking straws.

Woodwork  8  Exploding model house construction has begun.  Introductory projects complete.

Science 7- Jags were introduced to their unit on Chemistry.  Today jabs learnt about matter, mass, states of change in matter, and volume.  Homeworkà finish salmon colored W/S 4.3 on Mass and Volume.

Math 8-  Jags reviewed Ratio, Rates and Unit Rates.   Class was then introduced to proportions and how to know if items are proportional.  H/W à finish page 134 & questions 3, a,b,c,d,e,f on page 135.  (Exercise set 4.2)-pink W/S.

Woodwork 8-  First day for new rotation.  Students introduced to class projects and workshop safety.

Math 7-  Jags continued with fractions today and practiced reducing fractions, finding common denominators, and converting fractions.  Homeworkà pages 80, 81, &82 in JUMP Math (green W/S).

Science 7- Jags finished their Endangered species project today in the computer lab.  Homeworkà read introduction to chapter 4 on matter and chemistry.

Math 8-  Jags reviewed Ratio, Rates and Unit Rates.   H/W à finish page 131 (Exercise set 4.1)-yellow W/S for next math class on Thursday.

Science 8-  Jags went over the key parts to the immune system and the different immune responses.  A slide show of the different lines of defense was presented.  Homework à finish ‘Check you Understanding’ Section 3.6 on the immune system-(yellow W/S).

Woodwork 7-  First day for new rotation.  Students introduced to class projects and workshop safety.

Math 7-  Jags continued with fractions today and practiced reducing fractions, finding common denominators, and converting fractions.  Homeworkà pages 78-79 in JUMP Math (green W/S).

Science 7- Jags reviewed their science test today on ecosystems. They then started a case study on Nanaimo’s watersheds.    Homeworkà Finish follow up questions to Nanaimo case study.   Endangered species project due Tuesday Dec 2.

Math 8-  Students went over their fractions tests written last class.  After all questions from the test were taken class began to look at their next unit on Ratio, Rates and Proportions.   H/W à finish questions 1 & 2 on page 129 (Exercise set 4.1)-yellow W/S.

Science 8-  Jags reviewed digestion, excretion, & body systems.  Each student was responsible for different review questions to report to the class.  Jags then drew a model human body and labelled different minerals that are needed for body function to their associated body part.  The food sources of these minerals was also noted.  Homeworkà Read section 3.6 on Immune Systems-“Protecting the Body”.
