Wildcats had their last day of dance in PE and their last day with transformations in Math today.  They also had Science and PE.  In Science students finished assembling their motor/gearbox unit and were shown the plans for the switch they are making out of wood, bolts, and strips of sheet metal that will control their motors.  Homework---> Math:  start reviewing as next week (Wednesday *tentative) you have your geometry/measurement unit test that will cover measuring angles, angle laws, perimeters, area, volume, and transformations.  English--Hero 2 paragraph write up if you didn't get it in today & read at least 20 pages from your novel & record quotes and your thinking (literature circle assigned novel) to enable novel completion in 3 more weeks.  Socials- finish your Canada map that was due today if you forgot!  Enjoy your weekend.

Wildcats had Exploratory, PE, Math, Science, and computers today.  Homework- Math- finish page one on your transformations exercises (titled 2d transformations).  English- your 'Hero' write up is due tomorrow.  Socials- finish your map of Canada for tomorrow.  Science- bring in a container for your electronics 'robot' project and any old wire you can scrounge.  *Bring in your $5 for rock climbing if you haven't paid yet.

Wildcat Monday.  Students had there first experience of lit circles this year.  Wildcats need to remember to come to their lit circle meetings prepared with quotes and connections to share and discuss during the meeting (recording their thoughts in the provided lit circles package).  English homework- Hero write up due Wednesday & read your novels and prepare for lit circles! Math- students were introduced to Transformations.  Homework- questions 1-3 in your yellow booklet.  Socials- maps,  Map of Canada is due Wednesday; some students have moved onto the next map of British Columbia.  Science- Circle of Life review exercise is due prior to students commencing robot construction.  Many wildcats have commenced assembling the motors to their robots they will be investigating as a extension to their unit of study on electricity.

The weekend is here.  Wildcats homework for Monday:  Math- Finish your box volume and area lab/exercise.  Science- Finish your 'Circle of Life' project.  Socials- Finish your racism poster (its now late) and your map of Canada for Wed Jan 27.  English- Hero assignment is due Wed Jan 27 as well.  Have a draft copy done for Monday.  Enjoy your weekend!

Wildcats had a busy day and a TOC for the afternoon as grade six teachers were in "Inquiry" instructional planning meetings.  Wildcats practiced their area and volume concepts on real boxes that are commonly found in households.  Wildcats moved through stations and measure 28 boxes, and may have started their calculations based off their measurements.  Science- Plants were wrapped up with Plant Reproduction the discussion today.  Computer Lab- Wildcats completed assignments requiring computer use.  Homework- Math- Finish your calculations to your 28 boxes and your concluding questions for Friday.  Science- complete your plant reproduction write up (4 questions). 
Map of North America, Short Story final draft, and  your Racism Poster are due tomorrow!

No school Monday.  Teachers are getting trained on the new curriculum.  Wildcats weekend homework.  Math- Finish your purple area & volume exercise OR do page 237 in your Math Makes Sense text.  We will be wrapping up Volume and Area next week.  Socials- Racism poster due and North America map due Wednesday.  You will only have one more computer lab booking prior to due date.  English- you short story final submission is also due Wednesday Jan 20th.  Science-start reviewing your life unit.  A 'circle of life' review will be started next week.

Wildcats had Math, English, French, Exploratory and PE today.  No homework.  Many students have outstanding quilt blocks and hand/foot math assignments to hand in.  If you're one of them then you have work to do!  Find a shoebox to bring to class to store your robotics/electronics that starts up soon.  Bring in your $5 for rock climbing and your envelope from your term 1 report cards too.
